Blue and Bird

At their age, Blue and Bird should know better. Drinking, smoking, and playing rock 'n' roll only leads down one path. D. Forster and N. Bird met in the depths of dirty Fremantle music venues, before joining forces in Kalgoorlie, WA to deliver the opening track of WAM's Sounds of the Goldfields almost a decade ago.

Threatening each other to make songs ever since, the duo riled some notable music mates, including Ben Witt, Lee Jones, Sean Lillico and Danny Haines, and at a glacial pace, tumbled together a bundle of tracks, readied with mix engineer Sean Lillico at Fur Real Studios in WA's Margaret River region.

The first track 'Everything' earned a 2025 WA Music Song of the Year finalist nod and went on to take an Honorable Mention in the Rock category at the 2025 International Songwriting Competition, placing in the top 1% of around 13,000 entries from 112 countries.

Blue and Bird hit the bitumen with regional shows across WA, performing at Esperance’s Beach Dazed Festival and the 2026 Nannup Music Festival and are confirmed for the line-up for the 2026 Bridgetown Blues Festival. Forster's unmistakable gravel rasp and too loud guitars compliment the drum gods possessing Bird's tub thumping in this noisy rock duo.
